We recommend planting with Bumper Crop a rich organic soil builder Commonly called turtlehead. Chelone lyonii 'Pink Temptation' has deep pink 'snapdragon-like' flowers (looking like a turtle head, thus the common name) that are produced in good numbers atop of the stems. The steam are upright with glossy, dark green foliage. Very attractive and formal looking in perennial borders. Slowly spreading clumps, that do not run like other species of turtle heads. The best plants are produced when grow in partial shade to full sun with consistently moist to wet soil, preferably humus enriched soils that do not dry. If the soils are dry then grow in more shade, does well under trees with afternoon shade. 'Pink Temptation' is a lower growing form of the species, flowering around 15 inches tall. Started early will bloom the same year. |
