Salvia officinalis 'Tricolor'
Sage 'Tricolor' is an eye-catching ornamental herb with a blend of green, white, and soft purple-pink variegated leaves. While it has a slightly milder flavor than traditional culinary sage, its foliage is still suitable for cooking, especially in savory dishes and herbal blends. This variety is also highly valued for its decorative appeal in mixed containers, borders, and herb gardens.
A tender perennial in colder climates, 'Tricolor' sage is less cold hardy than common sage and may not survive harsh winters in Northern Connecticut (Zones 5–6) without protection. It’s best grown as an annual or overwintered indoors, especially in containers.
